Background
Time travel is hard. The single fact that universities and teachbots of the future never attempt to tell you is that time travel is hard. Not the actual science of time travel which is very simplistic and obviously the reason we kept looking right past it is how obvious it really is but rather the practical side of keeping track of all that timey-wimey business that stepping on a single butterfly causes. Sakura Sakura graduated top of her class for Time Space Inflitration so it was only obvious that she devoted her life to trying to preserve the Glorious Future Space Crystal Earth Utopia with the Temporal Integrity Coordination and Time Oversight Commission.
The future is not all fun, games, and glorious future space crystals though. Sometime during a routine engineering trip though the year XXXX something shifted in the world of tomorrow and what was once a Glorious Future Space Crystal Earth Utopia had become a Resplendent Dark Bad Space Metal Dystopia! Sakura Sakura was now stranded in time and understood the only way to save the future was to travel to the distant past of 20XX to ensure that her parents would come together as a couple in order for her to be born, thus letting her exist and save her own future that had ceased to be.
The Past of 20XX is a strange and difficult time period to fit into it. Everyone is obsessed with stupid fads that will never be remembered in the future, all of the technology is stupid, and nobody gets her amazing Classic Retro Observational Humor about the TV shows that will be regarded as classics in the future (of course the comedians that made these jokes she is reciting aren't alive yet.) Mostly Sakura is living somewhere alone and being a complete failure as a time space infiltrator and a completely normal Japanese high school student. On the plus side, Sakura is only the third least popular student in the school.

Daigo Daigo
Daigo Daigo is the only human being in the year 20XX to have a name as embarrassing as naming their child Sakura Sakura. Enrolled at the comparatively normal Kunio Riki Technical rather than the strange and flamboyant Hayabusha High school, he is a normal boy that is interested in normal, regular 21st century things rather than crazy things like extreme laser sports and antigravity boots. The closest thing to a friend that Sakura has despite his constant declarations that she is so weird and annoying. There is a sort of sibling like connection between the two of them, Daigo is responsible for making sure that Sakura takes care of herself by eating real food, getting real clothes for her, and even fighting her own battles for her. While Sakura returns the favor by being cute, spontaneous, and making weird jokes that he laughs at but doesn't quite understand.
